Every night I religiously plug my iPhone into my computer to charge it up, sync it and, if the spirit moves me, download something from the iTunes store.
Tonight was a tad different. I plugged my iPhone in and it asked me to install the new iPhone OS 4. The new and improved operating system for the iPhone. Now, I still have the original iPhone 3G. Not even the 3GS, let alone the 4. But, I decided to download it anyway. What could it hurt.
Well the sucker took 45 minutes to download, install, back up, restore, re-install music, video and apps. Whew! It took a long freakin’ time and I’m used to something taking seconds. I mean, if something takes over a minute to download I’m starting to get pissed. This experience reminded me of the old days (not, you notice, the good old days) when you needed to start downloading before you went to bed at night so when you got up in the morning the thing — whatever it was — had downloaded and was ready.
I guess it was worth it. I went to the iOS 4 page and it seems to have a lot of nice new features. Now, I just need to figure out how to use them. And I guess I need to seriously consider upgrading to the iPhone 4
